The Giants Home Opener - A Weekend of Epic Proportions

I was in Costa Rica from Friday the first to Friday the eighth but more about that later. I'm dedicating this post to the Giants because their Home Opener was absofuckinglutely AMAZING.
Home Opener against the St. Louis Cardinals, Friday April 8th:
We started with the team running out onto the field with smoke machines and all that dramatic crap. It happens every year but this was particularly special since they were coming home as World Champs and everyone was like freaking out.

Then they all lined up by the World Series trophy and it was, yet again, over-the-top dramatic thanks to the screaming people and symphony music.

Then there was the passing down of the World Champion Flag

and Brian Wilson and his ridiculous beard got to run across the field, up the stands, and raise the flag.

It was a pretty intense ceremony. Everyone was going nuts from what I could tell.

Then Cody Ross and Tim Lincecum received awards. Cody Ross got his NLCS MVP award for hitting three home runs and five RBIS against the Phillies "unhittable" pitching staff (two of those home runs were in the same game against Halladay who had preveiously pitched two no-hitters, so it was a big deal you could say...) And Tim got the Babe Ruth award for MVP of the ENTIRE POST SEASON.

Then the game started. I won't go through the whole thing but bottom line, it was the twelfth inning, the game was tied at four apiece, and then Aaron Rowand hits a walk off single that drives in a run to win the game. That's pretty cool. But the fact that he did the EXACT SAME THING EXACTLY ONE YEAR AGO IN THE 2010 HOME OPENER IS FREAKING MAGICAL.

I kid you not: 2010 Home Opener, game tied, 13th inning, Aaron Rowand hits a walk off single that drives in the winning run.

Brian got a little mad with the ump during the ninth. I kid you not. This man scares the shit out of me.

Saturday, April 9th, The Giants World Series Ring Ceremony:

This was the game The Giants got their World Series Rings. My friend's parents went to that game, and they got to try on one of the rings (because they know people who know the players).

Anyway, our beloved announcers, Kruk and Kuip looked absolutely dapper for the ceremony.

The World Series Rings were very *BLING*BLING*

And then the coaches, managers, and players received their rings, one by one. They walked up this orange carpet from the dugout to home plate and lined up around the infield. When Tim Lincecum came out, he, of course, tripped on the rug. I LOVE THIS MAN WITH ALL MY HEART.

MIKE FONTENOT. He used to be with the Cubs. They were in SF for a couple games when he was traded, so all he had to do was walk across the field. He's so little <3

Then the actual game happened. Bottom of the ninth, Cardinals 2, Giants 1. The Giants have runners at first and second, Miguel Tejada is at bat with two strikes. After he fouls two off he hits a walk off double that drives in both runners to win the ball game. Two walk off wins in two home opener games. All right

Sunday, April 10th, Buster Posey Rookie of the Year Award Ceremony:

I actually went to this game today. The Giants lost but at least we won the first two games, so we technically won this series against the Cardinals. Anyway, it was so amazing to see Buster talk and receive his award. I'm so proud of him! And the rest of the team honored him with the Players Choice Award or something. It was so amazing, Buster's parents and wife were there... Just AWWWW.

AND BUSTER AND KRISTEN POSEY ARE EXPECTING TWINS!!!!

But seriously, Buster Posey is extremely attractive.

OH MY GOSH I AM SO HAPPY FOR HIM! His wife is extremely pretty and they both deserve to be happy. They've known each other since grade school.

That's about it. Great weekend. UGH I don't want to go to school :(
